The most important aspect of life is environment and atmosphere surrounding the earth. The quality life of all living organism on this earth depends on the quality of environment and atmosphere. The human being as the master of all spices created several structures to make life better and exploited the natural resources provided by nature on this earth, space and the sea. Although the human being as an intelligent creature created various means of comforts for luxurious life but ruthlessly exploited the natural resources in this process and this ruthless exploitation has become a danger to human civilisation itself in form of environmental pollution and degradation which is most serious concern for the health and life of human civilisation. So the issue of environmental pollution has become the most serious issue for the entire world and must be addressed immediately to save this earth and all living creatures on this earth. The United Nations Organisation has played a significant role in addressing this most important issue before the world. It organised several conventions and conferences to understand and to resolve this serious and dangerous issue. The governments and non-governmental organisation from all over the world are working seriously to overcome this problem and it is the responsibility of every individual human being to save this earth and save all living creatures on this earth.

Field investigations were carried out in rice - cotton cropping system at the Annamalai University, Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai Nagar, which represents the tail end area of Cauvery Deltaic Zone of Tamil Nadu, India, during September 2005 to June 2007 to study the Direct and residual effect of organic and inorganic nutrients on total economic produce, per day productivity and rice equivalent yield in rice - cotton cropping system. The whole research consist of two phases each phase contain two experiments, first experiment include rice followed by second experiment with cotton. First experiment (Rice) comprised of eight treatments with recommended dose of nitrogen and graded dose of nitrogen along with different organic manures. It was laid out in a randomized block design (RBD) and replicated thrice. With regard to second experiment (Cotton) all the main plots of rice (Experiment-I) were divided in to three equal sub plots in which rice fallow cotton was raised without and with fertilizer at different levels (0, 75 per cent and 100 per cent RDF). Performance of the cropping system as a whole was reflected by total economic produce, total biomass production, per day productivity and Rice yield equivalent (RYE) by the two component crops of the cropping system was taken in to account to work out the aforesaid parameters of the cropping system. In rice - cotton cropping system higher values of total economic produce, total biomass production, per day productivity of economic produce and Rice yield equivalent (RYE) were significantly registered by 100% RDN + vermicompost @ 5 t ha-1 applied to rice followed by 100% RDF to cotton.

The aim of the present study was to analyse presence of arsenic in hand pump water samples collected from districts in Punjab (Bathinda, Faridkot and Moga district (Malwa region). Total 40 hand pump water samples were collected from each district. In Bathinda district, value of arsenic ranged from 0.008 to 0.1530 ppm with mean value of 0.0569 ppm. Similarly, in Faridkot district, value ranges from 0 to 0.153 ppm with mean value of 0.0156 ppm and in Moga districts ,value ranges from 0 to 0.0137 ppm with mean value of 0.0021 ppm. The study reveals that hand pump water samples collected from these three different districts are not for good quality since some samples were having increased level of arsenic concentration as recommended by WHO and USEPA (0.01 mg/L).

A study was conducted to analyse the effect of industrial effluent on agricultural soil present near the drains in Doaba region of Punjab. A total of twelve samples of soil and crops were collected from different areas and the physical as well as elemental content in both were estimated .Many collected samples showed a variation in values of physical parameters in case of soil. The results also indicated accumulation of heavy metals in the soil and parts of the crops especially in form of As, Pb, Cd and Ni. The presence of these heavy metals in soil and crops lead to disturbance of ecosystem and health risks.

This article is an attempt to trace the trajectory of the colonial construction of subjectivity of the colonised and its interrogation in the postcolonial period. Colonialism, as known to all, is not merely the invasion of territory and physical domination over it. It is sustained through the construction of the colonial mindsets in the colonised people through different discourses, including literature. This article explores the intricacies of such constructions during the colonial period and unearths how the rationale of these constructions is problematised in the postcolonial period. It also argues that even after independence from the colonial rule, the colonial paradigm re-surfaces in the form of neo-colonial hegemony and that it took over three to four decades for the liberated societies to delegitimize the Euro-centric and monolithic colonial canon.

The Exponentiated Parametric Survival (EPS) models like Exponential, Weibull and Gamma are alternative analysis for Exponential, Weibull and Gamma models. The Exponentiated Exponential has specifications like Scale and Shape, which is same like that of Weibull or Gamma family. However, the Exponentiated Weibull has a scale and two shape parameters, whereas the exponentiated gamma has a scale and shape parameter. In this study we used three types of Exponentiated Parametric Survival models for the Primary Congenital Glaucoma data and the study concludes that the Weibull model has the lowest Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) score which demonstrates a good fit for the data analysis of Primary Congenital Glaucoma.
