ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to predict the percentage consumption expenditure of household in India. We used National Sample Survey Organization(NSSO) data of years 1993-94,1999-2000,2004-05,2009-10 and 2011-12.The data includes percentage consumption of households of India on 18 items of both rural and urban area including 16 non-durable goods, durable goods and miscellaneous goods and services. We used time series analysis for prediction of percentage consumption expenditure of households of India. This preliminary analysis shows us that in future, changes in percentage consumption on non-durable and miscellaneous goods and services for both rural and urban are similar according to the trend. Percentage consumption on durable goods in rural has increased according to its trend but in the case of urban it has increased more. Consumption of durable goods in urban area is increasing more than proportionately and as a result there is a decrease in the consumption of non-durable goods and miscellaneous goods, which may affect the savings ratio of India. Further analysis in savings ratio is in process.

The main objective of transportation problem is the shipping of homogeneous goods from various origins to various destinations. In classical transportation problem, the distribution of goods is made by considering only one quantitative characteristic per shipment link. However,in real life, it is observed that the decision about the distribution of goods is based on several factors. In this paper, the transportation problem is extended by considering multiple incommensurate inputs and outputs for each shipment link, known as extended transportation problem (ETP). Common set of weights approach is proposed to compute the relative efficiency of each shipment link. The shipment plan with maximum efficiency is considered as optimal solution to ETP. A numerical example is discussed in order to validate the applicability of proposed approach.

Abstract Order statistics are mostly used in nonparametric methods but it is possible to use order statistics in a parametric setting and for estimating a parameter. The population maximum is a natural parameter of a discrete uniform distribution. This paper proposes to use sample order statistics for estimating the population size through population maximum. It is already known that sample maximum can be used to estimate the population maximum. This paper extends the approach and attempts to construct an estimator of the population maximum using all the sample order statistics.

When the population under study is rare and clustered, designing an efficient large area survey is a challenge. Since the survey efforts can be focused on the sub-areas of interest, the adaptive sampling designs are found more appealing in case of such populations. These survey designs can accommodate various types of changes such as changes in the survey objectives, in habitat, in species habitat models etc. Hence these designs are said to offer flexibility in designing a long term survey. There are many examples in environmental science where adaptive sampling designs are used. In this article we review some of the adaptive sampling designs that are useful for sampling from rare and clustered populations. They include adaptive cluster sampling (ACS), adaptive cluster double sampling ( ACDS), negative adaptive cluster sampling(NACS), two- stage negative adaptive cluster sampling ( Two-stage NACS ), negative adaptive cluster double sampling(NACDS) and two- stage inverse adaptive cluster sampling .

: Linear regression is the most basic prediction model in Statistics. It includes simple and multiple linear regressions. Literature on regression includes several variations of regression. The most common variation is brought about by introducing non-linearity in the regression model. For instance, polynomial regression introduces non-linearity in predictor variables, while logistic regression introduces non-linearity in the response variable. A recent variation in the form of regression tree discretizes the response variable through partitioning data so that every leaf node of the regression tree has a distinct predicted value for the response variable. Some researchers have introduced the concept of link functions in order to develop paths. This approach has resulted in the development of structural equations modeling and path analysis. This paper proposes a general form of the regression model. The main feature of the proposed model is linearity in coefficients and non-linearity, if any, of predictors in the form of link functions. Link functions are identified by examining the nature of the relationship between predictor variables and response variable. The purpose of this paper is to present a unified regression equation that will be useful in all applications. Some illustrative examples are given to illustrate the procedure and discuss how the results can be interpreted.

Abstract: Market demands of the perishable produce are volatile. Hence, demand of such items is fuzzy random variable. The appealing demand distribution of such item is exponentially. The parameter of exponential distribution is obtained. Fuzzy triangular numbers are used to obtain an optimal order quantity. The retailers and manufacturers profit is obtained under decentralized supply chain. Single period (newsboy) inventory is used to obtain an optimal order quantity. At the end of the day, all the remaining items are rotted. Hence there is no gain from unsold items. Also, some items are defective at the time of purchase.

ABSTRACT The study of relative condition factor (Kn) showed an increase in the Kn value from 134.5 mm to 144.5 mm in the males probably due to the intensive feeding activity and decrease from 134.5 to 144.5 mm in the females of L. boggut. There was decrease in the Kn values from 154.5 mm to 164.5 mm in both the sexes. Kn increases from 174.5 mm in male whereas it decreases from 174.5 mm in female. Kn from 184.5 mm, 194.5 mm, 204.5 mm, 214.5 mm in both sexes were more or less similar. Increase from 224.5 mm in male and female possibly indicated the onset of maturity and also probably is related to the sexual activity and further recovery. The Kn values for different length groups showed that the condition was high at lengths 134.5, 144.5, 154.5, 224.5, 234.5, 244.5 and 254.5 mm for males and at lengths 124.5, 144.5, 154.5, 234.5, 244.5 and 254.5 mm for females. The peak at 144.5 mm in male and in female 244.5 mm was likely due to the intensive feeding activity and the simultaneous maturation of gonads. Subsequently decrease was perhaps due to spawning and lysis of the gametes. Further low value at 214.5 mm in case of females may be due to intensive spawning. Very low level of Kn at 164.5 mm in males was due to intensive spawning. The monthly variations in Kn values showed that in female values were high during January, March, April and May while in male Kn values were high during January, June, July and August. The low Kn values were during July and August in females and during April and May in males. High Kn values may be considered as indications of preponderance of ripe gonads and time of breeding and feeding, while the low Kn value is indicative of the spawning. The fluctuations in the Kn values could be attributed to both spawning cycle and feeding intensity. The mean Kn values in L. boggut for different length groups were 1.0108 and 1.0120 for males and females respectively and for different months were 0.9683 and 1.0014 for males and females respectively showed that females gain weight at faster rate in relation to its length when compared to males. This study indicated good condition of the fishes in the Kalu dam and also implies that food is not a limiting factor in the dam.
