Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the education sector is gaining prominence, thereby igniting extensive discourse over its possible hazards to employment. The possibility of job displacement through AI automation is becoming a growing concern among educators in private institutions. Integration of AI acts as a driving force to change the scenario of higher education or at least parts of education, in the form of better teaching, increase in speed of administrative procedures, and better student performance. Located in the remote hilly regions of West Bengal and Sikkim, private higher educational institutions are just in the initial phase of bringing in AI tools into higher learning. But the long-term effects of integration of AI in higher education become a growing concern for educators engaged in private higher educational institutions on the aspect of job security. This research study has made an attempt to observe how artificial intelligence is perceived by educators at private higher education institutions in the mountainous regions of West Bengal and Sikkim. The paper further analyses how AI integration and support from their institutions are connected to how they feel regarding their job security. The study is based on the primary data collected from educators in private higher educational institutions in hilly regions of West Bengal and Sikkim. Data collected are analyzed by using descriptive statistics, inferential statistics to find out the relationships between teachers' perceptions of job security with adoption of artificial intelligence and institutional support. The results indicate that educators perceived that their job of providing education is secured if they make themselves well acquainted with the application of artificial intelligence and institutional support would be the pivoting factor behind integration of artificial intelligence and having secured job. By providing effective training private higher educational institutions could strengthen their educators and support them to believe in the positive outcome of AI integration. The analytical analysis of the dynamics between challenges of human resources in education and technological integration lay emphasis on the need to reconcile innovation with job stability and security. The results are of value given these institutions and places where they are situated and highlight the importance of the study to gauge the long-term effects.
